St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation
Established in 1991, the St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation serves one purpose:
The St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation and its Board of Directors provide guidance and leadership with regard to any preservation, restoration or enhancement projects of this historic landmark.
- 1991 - the Basilica Foundation undertook a capital campaign after the Basilica revealed years of exterior and interior deterioration.
- 1994 - the Basilica Foundation raised over $2.5 million to complete the exterior restoration.
- 1995 - A study was conducted to restore the interior of the Basilica for which the Basilica Foundation raised another $2.5 million.
- 1997 - The interior restoration campaign was completed.
- 1998 - Designs were completed for the Pope John Paul II Pavilion and Visitor's Center. Over $2.7 million was raised to complete the Pope John Paul II Pavilion.
The construction of interior shelters in 2007, a new landmark sign on the corner of South 6th Street and Lincoln Avenue in 2010, plus on-going maintenance, improvements and critical projects are examples of how the Foundation continues to support the financial endowment of the Basilica in its historical, cultural and spiritual identity.
The Foundation is a chartered non-profit, non-sectarian Wisconsin organization and is an active member of the business and non-profit community.
Planned giving and endowments will ensure that the Basilica of St. Josaphat continues to inspire generations to come.
